53 CADILLAC CONVERTIBLE #EL154 - 2598

The '53 Cadillac Convertible was 3rd of 4 limited edition cars in Daum's convertible series. Originally meant to be a limited edition run of 2500 pieces, Daum never produced close to this number of cars. This car was designed by Xavier Froissart. Only 193 Cadillac Convertibles were actually produced and sold by Daum, making this car a lot rarer than originally thought.

This is S/N "EA 1" of the '53 Cadillac. This very unique piece, which is not otherwise serialized, was according to Xavier Froissart the first piece off the production line, and should be considered to be S/N 0/2500. This piece is also personally signed by Xavier Froissart, and comes with a custom made, one of a kind name plate, and custom made shoebox style box with black foam interior, similiar to the DB5 or MKII. Note: The EA 1 Cadillac is the only Cadillac to be signed "Daum France" on the bottom of the car, rather than on the side rocker panel below the door.

The car itself is 14'' in length.

This piece is in excellent condition, and is properly signed Daum France.

PRICE: $1495

It however does not have "33" etched on the bottom of the car next to the "Daum France" signature. All 3 standard Alfa Romeos were designed by Xavier Froissart.

The car itself is 9'' in length.

This piece is in excellent condition, is properly signed Daum France, and includes the original red box.

ALFA ROMEO SZ

The Alfa Romeo Series from Daum consists of 3 regular production models and one limited edition custom production model. All the Alfa Romeos are smaller (1:20 scale) cars that were shipped in bright red boxes. All are signed "Daum France". The Alfa Romeo SZ is the only Limited Edition Alfa in the group. The SZ was a serialized edition of 300 cars. This is the only Alfa that was not designed by Xavier Froissart, and it is believed that a generic Daum designer actually designed this car.

Originally known as the ES30, Alfa Romeo released this car under the SZ name.

These cars were both given away by Alfa Romeo to dealers, to good customers, and also by Daum to reward special employees. It is not believed that they were ever available for retail purchase.

The car itself is 9'' in length.

This piece is in excellent condition, is properly signed Daum France, and includes the original red box. This is S/N 128/300.

FERRARI TESTAROSSA

The Ferrari Testarossa is the only large scale car (1:14) that is not signed "Daum France". It is however, signed "Creation Claude Nicolas Paris", and hence part of the Claude Nicolas collection. While there is no doubt this car was manufactured by Daum in it's regular production facilities, there is no information as to why this car was not signed by Daum. Some collectors have attributed the manufacturer of this car to Kan International. In actual fact, Kan International was most likely a Daum wholesaler who re-packaged these cars under their own name. I do have a car accessory catalog which lists the Testarossa for sale and it clearly states the car is made by Daum. The Testarossa is also the only large scale car to have clear tire treads rather than the normal frosted. The car itself is 12'' in length.

This piece is in excellent condition, is properly signed Daum France, and includes the original box.

GRAND PRIX UN-NUMBERED #HC64 - 2238

The Grand Prix Un-numbered is identical to the standard production Grand Prix #2, except that there is nothing etched in three places on the car, rather than the standard number "2". It appears at the moment there was a small production run of un-numbered cars, although no one knows the exact number.

There may only be a few un-numbered cars in existance. In fact at the moment we only know of somewhere under twenty un-numbered cars in existance. While some collectors might consider this a variation of the number "2" car, I consider this car to be a unique car in its own right and hence an additional collectible car that a true collector should stirve to obtain.

The car itself is 15.5'' in length.

This piece is in excellent condition, is properly signed Daum France, and includes the original box.

5 RINGS OF THE OLYMPICS

This masterpiece, commonly called "The Five Rings of the Olympics" is officially named "Dauphins Jouant" and consists of 4 large dolphins jumping through the 5 olympic rings in unison.

This piece was first designed in 1970 in recognition of the 1968 Grenoble Olympics games.

The overall dimensions on this piece are 27" wide x 32" high x 21" deep. Each dolphin unscrews for shipping, as well as the support structure, but this still makes a large and heavy shipping package.

ENVOL - 6 GEESE FLYING

Six Geese in active flight, as if caught just after taking off from a pond. A combination of wings up and wings down gives the illusion of the geese flapping their wings. Each Goose is mounted on a chrome plated square rod of different lengths. Each rod is securely mounted to an alluminum base plate. Note: Early serial numbers were mounted on a leather covered base that was lighter and smaller than the aluminum plate I have.

These geese are each relatively small, with only an 8" wingspan, and a narrow glass body. I am lucky to have no internal or external damage to any of the birds on my piece. This is SN 200/250

This piece is in excellent condition and is properly signed Daum France.

CONCORDES

The Concordes is a grouping of three Concorde Airplanes streaking through the skies at Mach speed. Each Concorde is supported on a chrome pole coming up from a triangular base. The sculpture came with a metal and wood nameplate.

Each of the 3 Concorde planes are 20" long, and were very stylized. They are many times thought to be birds. In actual fact, the Concordes were probably made from the same mold as an earlier piece that showed 3 long neck birds in flight, just changing the description and name to take advantage of the popularity of the Air France Concorde planes in the late 1970's.

Given the low S/N's I have already run across, it seems like only 100 or so of these sculptures were actually made by Daum. This is # 48/500

This piece is in excellent condition and is properly signed Daum France.

LARGE DOLPHINS PLAYING
HC 592/595 - 2065/2067

Daum designers loved dolphins. One of their favorite sets consisted of 2 dolphins, one jumping over the other, as can be seen in the picture. In fact Daum made this set in two sizes, one with medium dolphins, and one with large dolphins. This set is the large sized set. While each dolphin was sold separately, they are best displayed as a set. The bottom or diving dolphin was named "Dauphin", while the top or leaping dolphin was named "Grand Dauphin Sautant".

LA MOUETTE

This famous La Mouette (Seagull Flying) is the little brother piece to Atlantique. It is a fairly large creation consisting of a Seagull flying and diving. The bird is supported by a chrome holder bolted to the black base. The bird is held in place in two places: the tail and under the left wing. In comparison, the Atlantique has 3 seagulls flying at various angles. The overall size of this piece is 16" long x 20" wide x 20" tall. NIGHT FLIGHT - #HC85 - 2205

Daum's third airplane design, Nightflight, was a stylized DC-3 in flight, soaring over the tops of clouds. Etched with "70" on one wing, and "H-OJ" on the other, this plane is banking at about 30 degrees as it sits on a base of clouds. This design, by Xavier Froissart, is probably the most common of Daum's airplanes.

TALL SAILBOAT LAMP
#LYNX 362

This masterpiece, one of Daum's more unique pieces, the Sailboat Lamp consists of a crystal base and lampshade in the shape of two sails. This hardest part of this piece in collecting is finding an original Daum shade still in good condition. I believe mine is original, but am not 100% sure. The crystal base somewhat resembles a sailboat hull. The shade seperately was a "Tartane 28 bis". The lamp is now properly wired for USA.

SINGLE CONCORDE AIRPLANE

A spinoff or a pre-cursor to the Limited Edition Concordes, this single concorde could also be considered a bird in flight. I do not have this in any catalog so I am not sure of the intent, but the piece is identical to each of the three concordes in the limited edition Concordes, except that the front tip of the plane (or bird) is shorter than on the 3 Concordes. The base is made of black plastic or resin and the airplane is supported on a chrome rod similiar to the limited edition piece.

This piece is in excellent condition and is properly signed Daum France.
